In this author interview, I speak with Nate Patrin, a freelance writer based in St. Paul, Minnesota. His first book Bring That Beat Back: How Sampling Built Hip-Hop was published in 2020, and he joins me today to talk about his new book, The Needle and the Lens: Pop Goes to the Movies from Rock 'n' Roll to Synthwave.
