During this week of prayer for Christian unity, we must reject the complacency and triumphalism that often lead us to ignore the tragedy of a divided body of Christ. While we hold the fullness of the faith, we are called to follow Christ’s example by prioritizing charity and building bridges of understanding with others rather than simply "slamming the door". By feeling the pain of this disunity and reaching out with genuine care, we participate in Christ’s ultimate prayer that we may all be one.
Samuel 17:32-33, 37, 40-51 | Mark 3:1-6
Preached on the 19th of January, 2022, at the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City, Utah.
