The Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871) was a conflict between the Second French Empire and the Kingdom of Prussia. The war began when Prussia declared war on France on July 19, 1870, and ended with the signing of the Treaty of Frankfurt on May 10, 1871. The war was a major turning point in European history and had a profound impact on the course of the 19th century.
