127. Bringing History to the Big Screen: Unwavering ft. Ami Park, Christine Hughes, & Elizabeth Hales

Listen Later

“When we first started writing this script, we were excited to tell a story inspired by historic events. What we didn't realize as we were working on this script, was how eerily similar it would end up being to current events.”

Listeners, you may get the chance to contribute and support a film in the making that tackles very important issues! Introducing the team of Unwavering~ Unwavering, inspired by real events, tells the fictional story of Carolyn Kim, a Korean-American student who begins the fight for an Ethnic Studies program on her college campus.

We sat down with Ami, Christine, and Liz and we all shared our experiences (or lack of) with ethnic studies, what was going through their minds as they learned about the Third World Liberation Front, a student-led movement in the 60s, as well as what goes on behind the scenes of garnering support/feedback for a poignant short film.
