Chris Dyer's Creative Friends

#127 - Carmelo Blandino (Artist)

Listen Later

Chris visits his former college professor and longtime friend, Carmelo Blandino, at his Naples, FL studio.

Together, they dive into art philosophy, spirituality, and the nature of reality, reflecting on their shared time as student and teacher at Montreal’s Dawson College.

Their conversation traces the many layers of the psyche through stories of Montreal mural projects, early sketchbooks, collage and evolving mediums, reflecting on art as both personal healing and intentional beauty. Moving from questions of identity—“Who am I?”—to inner wisdom, mentorship, and the role of technology in modern life, they explore what it means to build a creative career with meaning, integrity, and depth.

About the Artist: Born to Sicilian parents in Tübingen, Germany, and raised in the culturally vibrant city of Montreal, Quebec, Carmelo Blandino studied art and design at the city’s local colleges and began a successful career as a freelance illustrator, collaborating with architects, designers, and advertising agencies. He is now an accomplished fine artist whose work continues to evolve, and has recently celebrated the launch of his new book.
