On the other hand, the Human Rights Campaign Fund released a statement the day after the election. "Like millions of other Americans, we're heartbroken by the results of the presidential election, as well as the loss of other pro-equality champions across the country. We know our community is feeling scared, angry, and worried about what's next for them and their families. We see you - there's no question that we will face more challenges in the years to come as part of our fight for full . . . equality. But our ancestors taught us that resilience is our superpower. Make no mistake – we are not backing down. And we are going to continue to show up for each other and for the march toward progress – no matter what."
According to exit polls, 85% of gay Americans voted for Kamala Harris. Cellphone users in at least nine cities reported receiving racist text messages. "You have been selected to pick cotton at the nearest plantation. Be ready at 12 pm sharp with your belongings."
Elon Musk misgenders daughter (Vivian Jenna Wilson), in response to her decision to leave US after Trump win. "Even if he's only in office for 4 years . . . the people who willingly voted this in, aren't going anywhere, anytime soon."
Google sees flood of searches on moving abroad. Google searches for "move to Canada" surged 1,270% in the 24 hours after polls closed on Tuesday. Similar searches about moving to New Zealand climbed nearly 2,000% while those for Australia jumped 820%. Gay political candidates won big. 280 won their races, only 66 lost. 131 are still undecided.
