A lifelong beneficiary of a Catholic education, he attended a Christian Brothers high school, was educated by the Jesuits at Canisius College, and then graduated from Notre Dame Law School. He practiced law for 5 years at a large New Jersey law firm before leaving the profession to pursue a passion for writing. He studied under crime novelist Dennis Lehane for an MFA in creative writing, then taught creative writing and literature at Franciscan University of Steubenville and Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. He joined the Amazon crime drama series BOSCH in its first season, and now serves as a writer and Supervising Producer on the show as it heads into its sixth season.
