Today we will quickly look at money in a Christian’s life. Is it wrong to have money? Should a Christian be in debt? What is the money that God has given a Christian for?
We will look at these questions and perhaps a few more.
The subject of money is not talked about much in church or among Christians in the context of the Bible. There are many reasons for this. Preachers or pastors are often embarrassed to preach about it, fearing that some may think they want their money. People in the church often don’t desire to hear what the Bible says about money and desire their leaders to stay silent on the subject.
However, the truth is that money is important. My missions pastor has often told me “Adam, it takes money to pay for all these things in the church or to take care of your family!” The reality is we all need money to survive. A church or mission needs money. A government needs money. A family needs money etc.
Our Bible verse for today is 1 Timothy 6:10. Out of the 140 verses from the Bible that mention the word money, I think this verse is the most important for a Christian today:
1Ti 6:10 "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
