It's easy to look on a chart & plot where you'll transition to. It's hard to actually take leave & go sort out the new terrain. Just as we gain situational awareness about a new assignment or deployment, treat your transition location the same way. Spend as much time there as you possibly can. Don't just wait until you buy your home--keep going back to visit.

Make your new home as much of a home like your current one.

This is easy when you're transitioning from a duty station you've been at before. It's hard when it's an all new location. Or a location with a limited military presence.
