13. Working at the Interfaces of Engineering, Business, Government Policy, and Climate

Listen Later

In this episode, I talk with my friend Thomas Lee about how his career journey combines his technical background in engineering with his experience in business and government policy.  Thomas shares the interesting work that happens at the interfaces of these sectors, in particular with his passion for climate change.  Come listen to Thomas' wide-ranging work and interests and where his curiosity has led him!

Clubhouse: Climate 101 room every other Monday. Beginners are welcome!

Some of my key takeaways from our conversation are:

  1. It is so easy to simplify someone else's job when we don't understand the big picture. Take a moment to explore what it's like being in other person's shoes
  2. Thomas started asking "why" from a very young age, first about objects and tools around him, and then that led to larger questions on society as well as individuals working together.  Consider digging below the surface by asking "why" and following your curiosity.
  3. Things get interesting at the intersection, whether of industries or subjects or even devices!  Where are intersections in your life and what are you learning from them?
