We discuss the potential abilities of psychedelic/psychotropic/hallucinogenic substances to positively impact mental health, facilitate deeper ways of perceiving the world, connect us with a higher power, and advance the human race. We also ponder questions regarding whether or not mind-altering substances exist or will exist that may allow humankind to expand our minds in ways that we can barely imagine, and whether some of our oldest religious ideas and practices may in fact have involved the consumption of hallucinogenic substances in the ancient past.
