Every day something happens that could be the catalyst to change your life forever. At the age of 18, a passion for cooking led Ellen Marie Bennett to Mexico City. After culinary school — and countless crazy jobs — Ellen came back to LA to cook professionally in some of the city's best kitchens. When she was only 24 years old, she heard the head chef announce he was ordering a batch of aprons. Tired of wearing their poorly-designed garments, she blurted out “I have an apron company!” That fib led to Hedley & Bennett, an empire beloved by tastemakers such as Martha Stewart and Alton Brown. She believes that the right tools — including the right apron — will change how you feel, the way that you stand, and the way that you take on the task at hand. If you could bottle up her productivity and enthusiasm, it’d be a best seller — but since we can’t, reading her book will have to do.
