Yesterday I attended a birthday party for a very special 97-year-old man. He was surrounded by family, friends, and a variety of people who he greatly helped over the years. His brief, teary-eyed words of wisdom to us, after gently blowing out candles on his birthday cake, resulted in a respectful silence of admiration from the crowd, before all erupted in applause.
