Join me in The Red Treehouse as I read a terrific short horror story, The Damned Thing by Ambrose Bierce.
First published in 1893, The Damned Thing by Ambrose Bierce is a terrific short horror story that can be read in a few short minutes. The story involves eight men who have gathered for an inquest into the death of Hugh Morgan, who perished under mysterious circumstances. The men are seated in a room, along with several others—and Morgan’s corpse lying on a table in the middle, covered by a sheet.
Focusing on themes of the unknowable, Bierce’s tale reminds the reader there is often more than meets the eye; and is guaranteed to keep you up at night!
So, sit back, turn down the lights, pull up the covers, and pay close attention as I read The Damned Thing by Ambrose Bierce.
