What is a Metanarrative (Pastor Larry):

A fancy sounding word describing a set of foundational assumptions in story form (that we rarely question) that lie behind how and why we see & interpret data (think: scriptures and doctrine), events and (personal) experiences in the way we do.

Becoming conscious of our META-NARRATIVE is important because of the influence it exerts on what we believe and how we hold to the beliefs we have.

In part 5 of our Perichoresis series, members of the Joyland family community discuss many of the factors that can and do contribute to our individual meta-narratives, and rally around the role that scriptures can and should play in shaping our gospel through our meta-narrative. We begin with some Gospel scripture lists found online with the search: "scriptures used in the gospel" and compare to our own lists...
