One aspect of how the Third Commandment applies to economics that Jeremy did not mention, related to the aspects of honesty mentioned (and thus this is related to the Ninth Commandment as well) is on weights and measures. It is dishonest and a violation of the implications of the Third Commandment on honesty to have dishonest weights, measures, and scales that steal from the customer. With weights and measures being true to what they are claimed to be, you do not have the issue of some people in a society trying to scam others in a society in this way and economic transactions are more trustworthy across the board; thus, the economy as a whole benefits.
