After World War II, Alan Turing shifted his focus from cryptography to the arising field of computer wisdom, applying his wartime experience to make the first practical electronic computers.  
He joined the National Physical Laboratory( NPL) in London, where he began designing the Automatic Computing Engine( ACE) — one of the foremost proffers for a stored- program computer.
