14: Empathy for my parents

Listen Later

Myself speaking having empathy for my parents. In my youth I blamed my parents for many things and many of my problems but after growing and understanding more about life, I have a different level of respect for them. I see people who have families much worse than mine and I am reminded of how blessed I am and how I need to be more grateful.I see men who were raised without a father and how deeply it affects them into adulthood and throughout their entire lives. I see people who have no siblings to help them in the harder parts of life. I am thankful to my parents for giving me all of this while simultaneously dealing with the harshness of life. I am grateful for all of the hard work my father put in trying to pass a business to his children and all of the invaluable knowledge he passed to me. I gave my father hell growing up and he gave it right back to me but today, as a man, I am grateful for all of that hell because iron sharpens iron and he made me fit for a crazy world that doesn't love me back. Thank you, Dad. Thank you, Mom.
