14 July 2022 | Bring back the m̶a̶s̶k̶s̶ biff

Listen Later

Are we ever gonna see the biff again? Absolutely if Dane Gagai has anything to say about it. Wednesday night's third Origin match had Georgie Tunny frothing at the mouth. Of course the resident Queenslander gushes about that try and that fight, wrapping up one of the greatest games of rugby league Australia has ever seen.

After the excitement wears off, we have a problem. Scientists say another winter wave of Covid is inevitable, this time brought to you by new omicron variants BA.4 and BA.5, which are supposedly more transmissible, more virulent, and head straight for the lungs. But what's Australia's appetite to deal with it? Can we deal with mask mandates, working from home, or the L word? Three-lockdown alumni Georgie and twice locked-down James Law give their takes on what we might expect over the next few weeks.

We also cast our eyes to the Pacific. While Australia's been distracted by Covid and Origin, the new government has been quietly working the diplomatic channels to re-establish and build new relationships with our neighbours in the region. We take a look at how Anthony Albanese and Penny Wong have fared when it comes to managing the relationship with China and the rest of the Pacific.

And finally, James has some hot goss, and Georgie shares her darkest moments ... in a spin class.
