In collaboration with a therapist, surrogate partners help clients who struggle with intimacy, body shame, sexual dysfunction, new gender or sexual identify, and relationships. They help their clients communicate their needs better,  teach sensate focus, and offer experiences like mirroring to become more comfortable with their bodies.
