14. Part One: Measures of Success, False Security & Protection

Listen Later

Welcome! We are so glad you are joining us as Laura and Tara continue with the series on “success” and what is considered a “good” life. It’s our first time inviting a friend to chat with us. Brady Gardner is the co-founder of LA37 (Living Army) here in the Detroit area, where Tara has greatly benefited from this church movement.

Brady’s testimony of encountering the loving truth of Jesus at age 26 (even though he gave his life to Jesus when he was 9) changed the trajectory of his life. Where Brady had career/financial success at the forefront of his mind, Love naturally flipped the script of fear and invited Brady into a whole new way of living ––with freedom!

This podcast isn’t a place where testimonies are elevator pitches. Nope! Truth and love are extracted one moment at a time. We don’t want our listeners to miss out on necessary thoughts and events illustrating the impact of a FLIPPED life!

In this Episode Tara & Laura hold space for Brady to share what his mindsets were as a young adult in high school and college regarding measures of success. He then leads us through some vulnerable and disappointing times in his life; as well as how the loss of a family member in a fatal car accident brought him to scream out 12 years of pain! It was at that point that…

Listen to find out.

The Wheel of Fear: Tara’s report is quite interesting as she shares that her and Laura tried float therapy this week. Episode 8 & 9, Tara learned from her client, Cait, about spas that have pods with enough Epsom Salt to suspend you in water that’s at body temperature, while it’s pitch dark. What?! Since Tara ultimately is Cait’s spiritual formation coach, Tara made a spiritual connection to float therapy like hangin’ with Jesus. The feeling of being loved and secure even if “everything went dark,” as if we disconnected from the needs/wants of this material world.

Tara isn’t claustrophobic; however, she had two incidences where fight or flight kicked in due to being stuck in cramped, small spaces. So, the intrigue of float therapy was enough to add it to the wheel of fear.
