Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every week day! This is message #144 and I am Aaron Havens.
I was chatting with a buddy and they were beating themselves up over being behind this year compared to where they were last year. Their job has a definite start and stop date each year. They were complaining that last year they had more time and was more organized. So this year, they would have to recycle the material they put together last year. And they were talking like this was a bad thing.
Hold up. Did you hear that. Because they were organized last year, they had material to use this year. I let them vent for a bit and then finally couldn’t keep it in. I said, it sounds like compounded success to me. You’re not starting from scratch this year!
My friends. You are not starting from scratch this year! Your life is a continual series of compounded successes. Your successes will continue to build on the success of the past. Your starting point is greater than it was last year. In fact, even if you’ve moved cities, started a new career and changed everything that was familiar to you… you are still starting at a higher level. We’ve overcome obstacles and build systems our entire life that has compounded our success.
Do you doubt what I’m saying? Oh yeah. So, does tying your shoes in the morning seem like a big thing to you? At one point in your life it frustrated you and you had to practice tying your shoe laces. Now, I bet, you don’t even think about it. Success!!!
Please don’t beat yourself up over where you are at. Look back and realize you couldn’t be where you are at NOW without all the compounded success that has gotten you this far. And just think… Next year… Where will you be!!!
