Hi, welcome to Jani No Pika Pika Nihongo.
It's already March from tomorrow.
The month of March in Japan is the Doll Festival.
Hinamatsuri is an annual event held on March 3rd.
Hinamatsuri is an event to wish for the healthy growth of girls. It is also called "Momo no Sekku" (Peach Festival) because March 3rd in the lunar calendar was the time when peach blossoms were in bloom. It is one of the Sekku festivals where people decorate hina dolls with cherry blossoms, peach flowers, hina-arare (sweetened rice-flour cakes for offering at the Dolls' Festiva), and hishi-mochi, and enjoy chirashi-zushiand clam dishes.
雛祭り HinaMatsuri "Doll Festival"
桃の節句 Momono Sekku "Peach Festival"
雛人形 HIna Ningyo "hina dolls"
ひなあられ Hina Arare ”sweetened rice-flour cakes for offering at the Dolls' Festival"
菱餅 Hishi Mochi "rhombus-shaped mochi"
ちらし寿司 Chirashi-Zushi "sushi rice in a box or bowl with a variety of ingredients sprinkled on top "
In houses with girls, Hina dolls are displayed and celebrated after Setsubun, but it was also said that if they were displayed after March 3rd, the girl would not be able to marry.
Japanese culture is interesting, right?
