A number of times, in my ministry, I have run an errand on Ash Wednesday having forgotten that I still have ashes on my forehead. On these occasions I will invariably have someone kindly say, "um,.. you have a smudge on your forehead." This will lead to an interesting conversation in which I tell them about the use of ashes on Ash Wednesday and they ask something like, "why would you do that?" 

This episode answers some of the the question I have been asked over the years.
