Pornography provides stimulus so that people can self-achieve sexual gratification. In that regard, it’s universal and timeless. Without pornography, men would be biologically driven to find some other outlet, be it a relationship with a women they don’t really like but at least provides relief, or force themselves on women who would otherwise reject them. Society needs men to work the fields and fix the plumbing; without their insane sex drive, men would rather sit around playing videogames.
Busybodies on both the left and right demonize pornography. Feminists complain that it objectifies women: yes. Moralists say that it allows men to evade a commitment to women: yes.
Prostitution is simply another form of pornography. Modern dating is essentially prostitution without pay, and a side effect of feminism. Women today frequently have casual sex with men they barely know. One woman can service a number of men, and she does it willingly, deriving sexual gratification herself. In that situation, men have the additional benefit of “Why buy the cow when the milk is free?” There’s no reason to take on the burden and risk of commitment when the primary reason for assuming the responsibility is to get laid. Yes, children are worth it but parents don’t learn that until the child is old enough to enjoy; they only seem like burdens from the outside. From a young man’s perspective, the enjoyment that comes from pornography, combined with the release from anxiety and urgency to get a girlfriend, is extremely freeing. It’s the people who think their values are superior to others and should be enforced by the state who want to ban pornography.
