#15 Getting Food Cultured

Listen Later

In this episode, Steve and Winnie discuss different facets of food culture. They begin with what a foodie is and then speak about what comfort food actually means. Expanding upon this, Winnie and Steve then discuss the food they grew up with and how the food we grow up with can affect us.
The second part of the conversation focuses on communal eating. People often eat in groups and have different customs. Hot pot is big in Taiwan while barbeque is big in many other countries around the world. It turns out there are a lot of different styles of barbeque.
The final part of the episode focuses on food customs around the world. Slurping noodles in Japan, avoiding clinking the teacup in the UK, and a lot more. Lastly, the episode finishes with a discussion on where it is more appropriate to finish all the food on your plate and where it is not.
