This week we get to know Joshua Abraham Norton. He started out as a very rich man in the mid 1800's. After a bad investment in rice it started to go downhill for him but his lack of money did not stop his ambition. He declared himself the Emperor of the United States and the Protector of Mexico and started sending orders around the USA. He was widely ignored in the USA but in of his home city of San Francisco became an icon.
