Professor Christine Kinealy, an internationally acclaimed expert on the impact of the Great Irish Famine as well as the relationship between poverty and famine in India, Spain, Canada, France, Finland and New Zealand. She has spoken to invited audiences in the British Parliament and in the U.S. Congress.

Christine Kinealy, Professor of History and Director of Ireland’s Great Hunger Institute, will provide insights into the four months Douglass spent in Ireland, with attention to his belief that the cause of the slave was the cause of the oppressed everywhere.
