We're going to do something a bit different today! I am celebrating my one year podcast anniversary with you guys. I believe the first episode I released was on July 6th and throughout the year, boy, did I learn a lot of stuff along the way. I think it's so important to take the time to reflect and with that comes 15 reflections I personally have for what I've learned since then that I wanted to share with you. I just want to thank you so much for being apart of this journey. I love reading your feedback on iTunes and knowing that my guests have made an impact! So...Let's get started!
Key Insights & Aha Moments:
*I'm so excited! July 6th was when I released my first podcast episode.
*Thank you for being a dedicated listener.
*This podcast wouldn't exist without you! Thank you for reviewing my podcast.
*So, what am I talking about today? Let's stop and just reflect.
*I have 15 reflections for you about what I've learned during my last year of creating the podcast.
*We're celebrating all week long! I'm giving away prizes and drawing up names.
*Thinking about starting a podcast? Try it and do it now. You won't know until you start it.
*Podcasting isn't for everyone. If talking is not one of your strengths or you don't like it, then maybe try a different medium.
*Just because it's the hot thing right now, that's never a good reason to get into something.
*What makes a good show? A great show is about learning to be yourself.
*I listened to one of my early episodes and wow, what a really big change!
*You want to make sure that you're recording when you're at your best. If you're not a morning person, then don't record important shows at 8am!
*The podcast is evergreen, which is why it's more important than ever to provide timeless value.
*It's so important to find new and exciting people to interview. Get a fresh perspective.
*I really focus on getting people whose story isn't being told loud enough in the industry now.
*Listen to your own show. Get some insights as to how you speak, interact, etc.
*Let's switch gears on logistics about how to achieve consistency and get your podcast done realistically.
*I can't tell you how batch recording has saved me. Recording an interview once a week was just not working for me.
*Audio quality does matter!
*When you can, outsource the sound engineering and editing.
*Podcasting isn't a huge lead generation tool, but it's a great marketing tool.
*I started to create a very specific promotional calendar for every single episode I aired and saw an increase in download numbers.
*Really stick with it even if you think no one is listening!
