15. Suicide loss & grief with Georgie

Listen Later

We are back after our week off and we are feeling so grateful to be able to bring you this episode. This week, we have the beautiful Georgie on who is a mental health activist and does amazing work to advocate for everything related to mental health, suicide loss and grief. She and two other lovely girls in Aotearoa New Zealand connected online as they were grieving the loss of their fathers around the same time. Through the bond they made, they created the platform “coolchange” where the girls use their voices to destigmatise the conversation around mental health and suicide.

In this episode Georgie speaks to her experience with suicide loss/grief & how different it can be for everyone. We chat about supporting someone who is grieving the loss of a loved one and to remember that it is ok to not know the right thing to say - a hug, text or quality time can be enough to show you care. We also touched on ways to be there for those friends who are struggling with their own mental health + lots more!

Georgie just radiates loveliness and we can all really learn a thing or two from listening to her be so brave and open in sharing her experiences.

Disclaimer 1: This episode discusses mental health issues and suicide, if this triggers you in anyway please skip this week and we will see you next week <3

Disclaimer 2: You'll notice in the second half of the ep that Georgie's lovely partner comes home and is cooking her dinner in the background. We apologise for the noise that we couldn't edit out...but let's be real, this gal deserves dinner cooked for her EVERY night so we'll let her off ;)
