We build each other up, so let’s help each other.
I’ve been torn down by many people in my life. It probably wasn’t purposefully directed towards me, but rather people just trying to survive in this world…and unsure how. Self-preservation is a natural instinct for us humans. We will do what it takes to survive, but there’s a better way than self-preservation. We can focus on inter-preservation, the idea that we survive better together—helping each other.
No person is an island. We think that to be a successful person you have to be self made, but that’s an outdated concept as everything we touch has been thought of, tooled, and made available through the minds and hands of many.
Think about it like this: you could build a whole house with your own hands. The thing is, someone had to cut the trees to make the boards for you, someone had to manufacture and melt the metal to create the nails for you, someone had to build the tools you used to hammer in those boards and nails, and if we look at the biggest picture…is that someone, something, or even some energy had to create this world in order for you to be able to have the plot of land you are building upon.
We build each other up, and when we realize that we aren’t self-made but connected—we create better things and ideas. I was listening to a radio program on technology, and it was asking the question of if machines would make humans obsolete. The presenter said that in chess matches that when computers and humans worked together that it could beat any human or any computer in the world. We work better together, so let us build each other up and help each other to where we all need and want to go.
