A Victorious Mindset Towards Evangelism Once again, God has seen fit according to his own purpose and grace, that we gather together in this assembly to hear and to study another portion of his holy and divine word. To those of you who are visiting with us and you’re not members of Churches of Christ, we just want you to know that here at the Church of Christ we love to have visitors and we pray that it shows. For there were many places you could have been on a Tuesday night, but you made the choice to come to the House of God, which is the Church of the Living God, pillar and ground of the truth.On this evening, I would like to draw upon the blackboards of your minds and preach from the subject of victorious mindset towards evangelism. And we just have five points in regards to developing and maintaining a victorious mindset when it comes to evangelism. And the first scripture we’re going to go to on this evening is found in Mark, not Mark, but Matthew Chapter 28. And we’re going to look at verses 18 through 20. Our first point will come from this passage of scripture. Matthew, Chapter 28, and the verses are 18 through 20. There you will find these words. “And Jesus came and said to them, all authority in Heaven and on Earth, has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always to the end of the age.”The very first thing that we need to know in regards to developing and maintaining a victorious mindset towards evangelism is that Jesus Christ is with us in this work. Notice what is taking place here. Jesus has just died, been buried, rose again, and his last words before he ascends up to the Father is to his apostles, and he says I want you to know that all authority, all power, has been given unto me. And since all power and all authority has been given unto me, this is what I want you to do. I want you to go and make disciples. But I’m not going to leave you ignorant on how to make disciples. The way you make disciples is by baptizing them and teaching them what I’ve commanded you. And don’t fear when it’s time for you to go out and do this work, because the last thing I want to tell you before I leave here and come back again is that I am with you. Who is he with? He’s with the individuals that go teach, baptize and teach. This is the assurance that we have. And this is what helps us to develop a victorious mindset towards evangelism. Knowing that each time I step out to do this work, to obey this command, the God of Heaven in the form of Jesus Christ, the one who has all power and all authority, has assured me that he’s going to be with me when I set out and do this work.Therefore, there should be no fear or timidity when we go out and evangelize. We should never fear man. If we’re out there evangelizing, if we’re out there sharing our faith, what can man do to us?Listen to your Bible as we read Psalm 56 and the verse is 11, Psalm 56 in the verse is 11. The Bible reads, in God I trust. I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me? We see this again in Psalm 118 and the verse is 6. In Psalm 118 and the verse is 6 the psalmnist says the Lord is on my side. I will not fear. What can man do to me? We see it again in Hebrews Chapter 13 and the verse is 6. In Hebrews Chapter 13 and the verse is 6, the Bible reads, so we can confidently say the Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me? We should have no problem evangelizing knowing that as we set out to do this work, God is with us. Jesus is with us. We’re doing it by his authority. We’re not doing it ignorantly because he has told us exactly how to do it. And for as long as we continue to obey that pattern, we’re going to be OK. We mess up when we decide that we’re not going to evangelize anymore. Or we mess up when we think that there is such a way as trying to make disciple
