Are you aware of bias? Kristine is an expert in helping the dental hygienist identify their own bias related to patient care. As providers, we need to be aware of our bias. Kristine talks about ways in which we can identify bias and how to navigate through situations where we identify our bias.
The first step is identification, become aware of how you speak, what you say, and how you say it. Consider the reasons why you say certain things or feel a certain way.
Kristine is the founder of Dental Diversity and Inclusion alliance. She provides great examples of implicit bias and how it impacts the care that we provide patients, the types of treatment plans we create, the products we offer, and our expectations, just as a few examples.
