This week we gather to celebrate Pentecost and the outpouring of the Spirit upon the Church. Pentecost reminds us that we are not alone; God is with us in all times and places. As we celebrate this holy day in the life of the Church, we also gather to celebrate the confirmation of 33 DUMC youth. This is a significant day for our youth as they will affirm for themselves the faith into which they were baptized. I have reminded them that confirmation is not the end of the journey, but one more significant step on a lifelong adventure of being friends of Christ. I am grateful for Rev. Dianne Lawhorn and Brittany Viehmann and their excellent team of ministry servants who have led the confirmation experience. I am also grateful for our youth and their desire to follow Christ. We are a better church because of them.
