154 \\ Why Moms Feel Constantly Behind (and What Actually Helps)

Listen Later

If you constantly feel behind as a mom—no matter how much you do—you’re not alone.

In this episode, Ashley breaks down the real reason so many moms feel overwhelmed and behind… and it’s not because you’re failing or not doing enough.

It’s because everything in your life is competing for priority at the same time.

Instead of trying to do more, this episode walks through a simpler, more grounded approach to help you feel steady again—through realistic expectations, daily anchors, and shifting how you view consistency in motherhood.

 Problem 1: Mental Overload

You’re not just completing tasks—you’re carrying the mental load of your home, your kids, and your schedule.

 Solution: Simplify and externalize

  • Get things out of your head and onto paper
  • Reduce decision fatigue
  • Create clarity instead of carrying everything mentally
  •  Problem 2: Unrealistic Expectations

Trying to show up at 100% in every area—fitness, home, motherhood, nutrition, and more—is unsustainable.

Solution: Adjust expectations to your season

    • Let go of “perfect”
    • Align your effort with your current capacity
    • Focus on faithfulness, not performance
    •  Problem 3: Too Many Inputs & Comparison

Constant exposure to routines, advice, and social media creates pressure instead of clarity.

Solution: Reduce input and increase intentionality

      • Limit what you consume
      • Stop constantly switching systems
      • Stay consistent with a few core habits
      •  Problem 4: Everything Feels Like a Priority

Fitness, health, motherhood, faith, and being a wife all matter—but trying to do them all equally every day leads to overwhelm.

Solution: Let priorities rotate, not compete

        • Not everything needs equal attention daily
        • Focus on what matters most in the moment
        • Steward your priorities over time, not all at once
        • Luke 10:41–42

“You are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.”

           SIMPLE DAILY ANCHORS

Instead of trying to do everything, focus on:

          • Moving your body (even briefly)
          • Spending time in the Word
          • Eating real, nourishing food
          • Completing one meaningful task
          • Fitness, health, motherhood, faith, and being a wife don’t compete—they support each other when approached with consistency instead of perfection.

You’re not behind—you’re just trying to carry everything at once.

If this episode encouraged you, share it with another mom who’s feeling overwhelmed and trying to do it all.

Fueling moms in faith & fitness,

            Ashley
