#15:Choices

Listen Later

Genesis 2:15-25, 3:1-24

  • Life is all about choices.

    • God gave us the power of choice and the responsibility of living with the choices we make.

      • God also gave us boundaries to serve as guidelines because he loves us.

        • God did not want us to be programmed robots.  Instead, he gives us freedom to choose, to love, and to serve Him.

          • There are regular choices and there are life-changing choices.

            • There are only choices upon the shelf. To live for God or to live for self.

              • We need to keep in mind the boundaries that God has put around us.

                • Religion that is only do's and dont's becomes frustration and powerless.

                  • There is an attraction to "don'ts" in life.

                  • Romans 5:5-12

5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

                    • Because of the sin of Adam and Eve, sin and death came into the world.

                      • God, never intending for there to be death on Earth, needed to set boundaries.

                        • Adam and Eve's sin was passed down through their bloodline to all people.  All people have sinned as a result.

                          • Only Jesus Christ did not have sin as God chose Mary, a virgin who knew no man, to give north to him.  Because of his virgin birth, Jesus did not inherit the sin from Adam and Eve.

                          • Romans 5:13-14 & 20-21
