In this episode, I’m joined by Dr. Amy Atmore, PT, DPT, CSCS. Dr. Atmore is an LA-Based PT who has been leaving her mark on the sports medicine field for the last 10 years. Her experience in professional sports ranging from the NBA’s Phoenix Suns to NFL’s Seattle Seahawks has been quite the journey as she now ventures into a specific sector of the NFL treating athletes privately. Her experience as a physical therapist has not always been Sports and she prides herself in being able to pull from other PT specialties to facilitate her growth in the sports field. It was an absolute pleasure having this incredible mind on the show to discuss various topics such as how to engage with your athletes to promote compliance, what to look for when clearing an athlete for play, how to handle treating athletes that may be seeing another PT, AT, or CSCS outside of your care, are there residency and certification requirements to treat at a professional level, and tips for new grads that aspire to become a sports med PT.
