Emotional intelligence is arguably the most important skill you can develop in the 21st century. To thrive in relationships, as a parent or in a leadership position, it’s imperative that you not only deepen your own capacity for emotional self and co-regulation but you also create the space for those around you to deepen theirs.

Even in the corporate world this is becoming more commonly recognised. As the saying goes, “IQ will get you hired, EQ will get you promoted”.

It’s very common for men to develop a limited capacity when comes to emotional intelligence and their ability to recognise and communicate what is happening for them emotionally. This in itself isn’t a great thing, but the real issues start when that starts to impact their ability to connect with what is going on emotionally for those around them.

Emotional agility is essentially our ability to perceive, understand, and regulate our own and others emotions.

In this episode we dive into:

  • Why exploring EQ is Important for ourselves
  • Why exploring EQ is important for our relationships
  • Importance for parenting. What we are uncomfortable with in ourselves we will be uncomfortable with in others
  • What blocks men from developing emotional agility?
  • The collective story that “logic” is more important that “emotion”.
  • Reframe our view of emotions.
  • Reconnecting with emotions is a body based process.
