16. Plant Based Nutrition with Sue From NYA Movement & Wellness

We sat down with Not Your Average Movement & Wellness owner Sue to talk about plant based nutrition.  As a follow up from our vegetarian episode, we talked first about the differences between being vegetarian, plant-based and vegan.  Being a plant based certified holistic nutritionist, Sue debunked a few misconceptions about being plant-based. Some topics included: Keto diets, supplements - when/how to take them and why they are needed, as well as the ever popular debate of where protein actually comes from and why some people fear that they will lack protein transitioning over to plant based.  We discussed being the only plant based person in a household and what that looks like at meal time and being plant based during pregnancy and throughout a babies first years of life.  In the veggie episode we touched on the fact that what makes a dish delicious is the sauce and spices, Sue takes that point a step further and tells us why that’s the case and how to duplicate your favourite meals sans meat.  What does she say to those who feel like following a plant-based diet is too expensive or too hard?  How do we look at and appreciate food as fuel and not look at it as good vs bad?
