John Salter is currently ranked #4 Middle Weight title contender in Bellator. John is a seasoned combat sports athlete beginning his wrestling career at 12 years old and continuing through high school and college achieving honors such as All American and  2007 Collegiate NAIA National Champion. 

As a professional fighter with 24 professional fights on his resume, John has competed in the UFC and Strikeforce prior to Bellator, where he holds the record for most MW submission victories.

John is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Shawn Hammonds and is head coach of the Salty Dog Jiu Jitsu Team out of Wilmington, North Carolina as part of Port City MMA and Fitness. He was the winner of the 2017 West Coast ADCC Trials and continues to compete in Jiu Jitsu in parallel with his MMA career.
