I'm reading Mother Theresa's autobiography, and one of the first lines that stuck with me was a quote from one of her early mentors, Father Jambrekovic which was "Joy...was the compass that pointed in the direction of life."
That's the topic for today's deep dive. It reminded me of a quote from one of my favorite professors in college, who ended an e mail to me with 'Find joy and happiness, and success will follow". In this episode, I talk about the journey being the reward, and how those journeys look different to each of our players. The challenge of coaching is constantly directing and feeding a player's 'why', finding their 'joy' and giving them consistent reminders of that along the journey of your season.
I hope you guys enjoy this. Here's the link to the book.
