Steven is a program manager for IMAN, and the first juvenile in Illinois that was sentenced to natural life in prison without the possibility of parole. Mr. Hawthorn details his life experience growing up in Stateway Gardens-public housing project. He also discusses the tragedy that led to his natural life conviction as a minor. While in prison, Steven reconnected with his father, whom was serving a sentence on death row.
