Before I had a preemie, I had no idea what a NICU entailed. I didn't realize the amount of babies who needed intensive care immediately after being delivered, and I definitely didn't realize that there were so many reasons babies can be born preterm. We were thrown into NICU life since we weren't expecting Tate to be born at 30 weeks, and I so badly wish I would have had support from others who had been through similar situations and faced similar journeys. There is so much power in sharing our stories and allowing others to use them as guides.
Join us in this weeks episode as we wrap up our NICU series by chatting about some of the complications that can cause preterm labour, the different gestations babies are born at and what severity of prematurity they fall into, and most importantly, how we can SUPPORT families while they navigate their NICU journeys.
