The ethos here is The Jump: the leaving of the known for the unknown. This is the common ground that all expatriates share, the threshold over which only immigrants pass - escaping a past for brand new beginnings, one's reinvention in a brave new world in spite of accompanied baggage and skeletons in cupboards.

“Tales of Ex Patria” relates an experience of Spain, the adventure of living in a place that you don't quite understand, that will only ever partially reveal itself and its mysteries, and where, because you never really belong, you will forever be mutedly exotic.
