On the evening of May 4, 2001, Bonnie Lee Bakley was killed by two shots fired from a World War II pistol while sitting in her car on a dark side street in Studio City.
Bakley had just finished dinner with her husband, movie and television star Robert Blake, at nearby Vitello’s restaurant. At the time of the shooting, Blake claims he had returned to the restaurant to recover the handgun he had left at the table - carried to protect Bakley.
11 months later, Blake was arrested and charged with her murder (among other charges), but he was acquitted by the jury in that trial. He was later found liable for Bakley’s death in a civil suit filed by her children.
So did he do it?
