Just after midnight on January 29th John O'Keefe was dropped off after a night out at two bars at a fellow Boston Police Officer's home by his girlfriend Karen Read.  What happened on that rop off and the following hours is of much debate.  Investigators and the prosecution allege that Karen hit John with her SUV when she dropped him off and left him for dead while others believe that John's death was the result of something else and that the investigation was an elaborate cover-up to pin everything on Karen while taking the blame away from other officers.  At the first trial the jury was unable to come to a verdict and so a second court case is scheduled to start in Janaury of 2025.
