We’re beginning a new series this week on the Gospel of Luke, which is probably my favorite gospel. We really started in Luke during Advent. We learned about the people of the Advent story, saw what kinds of questions they asked and saw how their questions are still very much relevant today. The story changes this week. This week, Jesus steps onto the stage and begins his ministry reading scripture in the synagogue in his hometown of Nazareth. He is not well received. His message at Nazareth sets the stage for his whole ministry, it’s a thesis statement of sorts. Why do the people in Nazareth react so strongly against his message? What does it mean for Jesus’ ministry, his disciples and for us?
