In a follow-up to my first episode on dealing with addiction (Ep. 90 Let Them Fall) I want to balance the principles I shared in it, with this one today (Help them up). While addiction is something all of us will have to face, it's important to understand how to face it...when to allow someone to fall, and when to help someone up. These two episodes work together to help find that balance. The balance between enabling and serving, between giving a hand out vs. a hand up. In this episode today, I'll share a few thoughts from my experience with addiction over the years and how to best love, support and show compassion to ourselves and others, when climbing out of the pit of addiction. And I'll refer to the LORD of the RINGS to illustrate how to best do it.
