Councillors need councillors. Mentors need mentors. Anyone who is in a job where their primary task is listening to others, is usually obliged to have some way of expressing themselves. I believe preventative support should be provided in other jobs as well, and not reserved simply for treating problems once they arise.

So much of our world is geared towards treating symptoms rather than prevention of the causes.

It never feels efficient or worthwhile to focus on solving a problem that doesn’t yet exist in obvious terms because it is impossible to measure. The results are invisible because if it works there will be no sign that there was any inevitable negative outcome on the horizon.

It’s a bit of a lose lose. But it’s worth it. Like eating well and getting regular exercise throughout your life might prevent all kinds of things, you’ll never know what you’ve prevented because, well they’ve been prevented.

As humans we struggle to invest in such activity because we like tangible results.

We would all do well to create our own realm of preventative mental system cleansing. There are many reasons for introverts and HSPs to explore creative expression and flow in the way we respond to our thoughts and feelings.
