Today on the podcast I have Tessa Carroll, Founder and Designer of AC Official and The Common Good Company, two sustainable fashion brands.  Inspired by making big change and impacting the world for the better, I honestly could have spoken with Tessa for hours!  She is such an inspiration and leading the market when it comes to responsible fashion.

 

Starting a business is hard in any sense, but starting a business wanting to make a global impact, when the industry itself isn’t ready, is another feat in itself.  Inspired by her years in fashion and getting to see first hand the impact her industry was making on the environment, Tessa decided it was time to change.  You can have beautiful accessories, but they don’t have to hurt the environment.

 

Tessa openly and candidly shares where her vision to do good came from and how her experience in fashion helped her gain some amazing experience in the industry.  It was however, he lived experience that was the catalyst to become a business owner and blend her passions, with her skills to create a thriving business in just 2 years, and during COVID!

 

We also spoke about the responsibility of other businesses and how you can move towards doing better, no matter what stage of business you are at.  I see a lot of business owners waiting to earn more or be bigger before making an impact but the change can happen today, in the smallest of ways.

 

Finally, Tessa shares some of the struggles she faced launching with such a big vision and how she overcame them.  With such a big responsibility, the road to success isn’t going to be easy, you have to be a leader, but the industry will change and your audience will grow with you.  By using the right messaging, by being clear on who you serve and what you do well, you can make a name for yourself in a changing industry.
